Concussion Testing
Concussion testing with Rachel, our team athletic trainer, will be conducted prior to practices starting at the beginning of each season. Please continue to watch this site for further information OR communicate with your specific sport coach.

Every athlete who plays Football, Boys and Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Hockey, Wrestling, Boys and Girls Lacrosse and pitchers/catchers for Baseball and Softball need to complete baseline testing every school year prior to their season starting.



2024 FALL BASELINE CONCUSSION TESTING

UPDATED July 25, 2024  12:00pm

This IS MANDATORY for football, boys and girls soccer and girls divers (baseline testing needs to be done EVERY school year)

Next dates LISTED BELOW!


Baseline concussion testing needs to be completed BEFORE the student can practice/tryout on August 12. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Students NEED to download the Sway Medical app on their phone PRIOR to the testing date and have their phone fully charged for test day. The Athlete NEEDS to fill out the demographic information link and code provided here PRIOR to test day.

Mayo Clinic Sports Physicals Event - Saturday, July 27, 2024

Mayo Clinic Orthopedics and Sports Medicine will be conducting pre-participation sports physicals on Saturday, July 27, between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at our Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center facility.
 

  • This will be by scheduled appointments only and starting on May 13 for the prescheduling form.

  • Athletes or parents need to follow this link or QR code to complete a pre-scheduling form which should go-live on May 13. The QR code is also on the attached flyer.
    Once the pre-scheduling form is submitted, they will be called in 2-3 business days to schedule the sports physical in Sports Medicine. Calendars for scheduling will not be available until May 13. If webform is submitted prior to that, call backs will not be until May 13 or after in the order received

  • There are three timeframes parents may choose to be called to schedule the appointment which include: 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., or 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., or 4 to 7 p.m. If we are unable to reach them via phone at their requested time, we will send an email or Patient Online Services message.

  • Cost is $20 by cash or check only, payable at check-in on July 27.
     

We are also excited to offer an additional research opportunity.

  • Free Heart Health and Spleen Study
    Mayo Clinic Research is offering an electrocardiogram (ECG), an echocardiogram, and two ultrasounds of the spleen for all sports physical participants at no charge.

    If the parents/athletes say "yes" on the webform, research coordinators will contact the family prior to July 26 to answer questions regarding the study as well as obtain consent prior to the day of the physicals.  We anticipate this station of the PPE will add about 30-45 minutes at the end of the PPE exam.

DUE TO DISTRICT INTERNET FIREWALL UPDATES - Internet and phones will NOT be available on Tuesday, July 30.

Online Registration will be July 31 - August 6, 2024

PHYSICALS....An UPDATED physical needs to be on file in the Athletic/Activities Office BEFORE you can register online.

If you need a new physical, please get the completed copy to DeeAnn as soon as possible. WHEN you have an updated physical you can email it to her at defritz@rochesterschools.org OR drop it off in the main office at Century in July. The physical NEEDS to be to her NO LATER than August 1 in order to register on time. SCROLL DOWN this page to find the PHYSICAL FORM AND INFORMATION!

First day of Fall practice/tryouts is Monday, August 12 for ALL FALL SPORTS - you will NEED to be registered online in order to practice/tryout.

SPORTS PHYSICALS - ATTENTION 2024-25 ATHLETES:
You NEED to take the MSHSL physical form with you.  Physical form can be found BELOW.

Directions for finding physical date in Skyward
Sign in to your skyward family access and look under the "Report Card & Portfolio"This will be listed with all of the testing results and report cards.

You will need to have a copy of your physical (page 1) in the Athletic/Activities Office BEFORE you can register online.  The system will not let you register without this.

Once you get your physical done, please email page 1 to DeeAnn Fritz at defritz@rochesterschools.org
(AS a PDF file OR WORD document (attachment) NOT in the body of the email.

Your updated physical needs to be on file in the Athletic/Activities Office at your high school BEFORE you can register online.  Physicals need to be current for the ENTIRE Season in order to participate.

Dismissal Time

  • Players are dismissed 15 minutes prior to the bus departure time.
  • All players need to have their equipment at school ready to leave for the event. 
  • They will not be excused to run home and get their gear.
  • Middle School Students must be dismissed with a parent note at the Middle School Attendance Office.
  • Students serving a penalty for a violation should not be dismissed from school to attend away events.
