Requesting a Teach Substitute

There are two steps to teachers and others requesting time off leaves for coaching.

  1. Skyward - attachment
  2. Enter absence on AEsop – video link below.  This now takes the place of subfinder.   http://535net:8080/news/view?articleId=367

Also, in an attempt to cut down on the loss of instructional time in your classroom, we have been asked to clarify your substitute start times.   If an event is canceled, the teacher/coach must return to their classroom duties and notify the office manager to reassign the substitute within the building or cancel the half-day or full-day substitute.   Before submitting your classroom coverage into Skyward, please check to see if you have options in-building for hourly coverage.  If, “no” enter a half-day or a full-day coverage into Skyward.    You may have to work with the Activities Secretary to adjust your bus departure times to fit a half-day coverage scenario.  By moving a bus time 15-20 minutes this can reduce our costs from a full-day substitute to a half-day substitute.

Half day absences should be entered so that the time frame is under four hours

High Schools - 11:30 am and end time 3:10 pm (I know this may vary on Tuesdays)

Middle Schools - 11:30 am and end time 2:40 pm

Elementary Schools - 12:00 pm or 12:30 pm and end time 3:45 pm

Additional Notes:

Any start time can be entered as long as the half day absence is under four hours.

Human Resource has seen absences entered starting at 12:45 pm and ending at 3:10 pm.

Human Resource assumes the teacher only needs coverage for classes starting at 12:45 pm and on.

The substitute is still paid the half day pay as long as the absence is under four hours.

Human Resource would prefer that absences not be entered into Skyward for just one hour to cover only one class.

If only one class needs coverage, the absence should be covered from within in the building by another substitute who would be paid an additional $15 to cover during their scheduled prep or lunch.

If this is not an option, then the one class should be covered by a contracted teacher who is available during their prep or lunch. (timesheet)
